Try our SwimEx Pool! Aquatic Therapy is simply Physical Therapy in the water. The water offers many advantages to assist with exercise and rehabilitation. The most important being early intervention post surgery or injury. Beginning therapy before weight bearing is allowed helps to minimize muscle atrophy. If exercise is painful, the buoyancy of the water takes stress off the joints by decreasing the weight they must bear and in turn alleviates pain. The viscosity of the water provides effective resistance for strength and cardiovascular training. The hydrostatic pressure generated by the water causes an increase in circulation, which decreases swelling. Tactile cues provided by the water assists with proprioceptive and balance training.
